Grand Canyon Trip: The Drive Down (Zions)

During my fall break, Joslyn and I decided to take the fall down to see the Grand Canyon. We have lived by it for so long, but none of us have ever seen it. Hello?!? It is one of the seven wonders of the world!

We passed the 100,000 mile mark on our car in Provo where this crazy family started.

Zion's was halfway between our house and the Grand Canyon. It made for a perfect break to get out and hike for a couple hours. We took the shuttle up to the emerald pools trailhead. The girls loved riding on the bus. (The buses may have been their highlight at Zions and the Grand Canyon).

The views are so stunning up there. Add a cute little munchkin (or two, or three) in there and the combination is just majestic.

One the way up, we passed a lady having a panic attack because the drop-offs we so high and there was no railing. Then this whole brigade came charging through. We may have almost caused a heart attack.

This girl is a trooper. She really loves walking and can do it forever. She hiked all the way to the pools (0.5 miles) twice, probably, with how much she back- and side-tracked.

The girls loved all the sand ever where. They thought that they were in a giant sandbox.

Still going. Everyone would stop and just watch her go.... probably because she zig-zagged across the whole trail, but also because she is so stinkin' cute!

It was such a beautiful, warm fall day. Perfect for a hike. So glad that we got to spend it together as a family.

The trail went right under one of the falls (only a trickle in the fall) that emptied into the pools. Here we are making a dash for it through the little trickle.

The girls were so brave and excited about using these chains to hike out from the pools.

Airharts at the Zoo

Early October we had a zoo day with all the Utah Airharts. It was so much fun for all of us.

We got to be present during feeding time for the Lion. The lady made him work for his food and it was fun to watch.

Even with that fence, it was still nerve racking to be 5 feet away from a lion

The carousal ride was a huge hit with the kids. Cambry was so excited to ride the deer. 

Veena kept telling me- I'm so brave to ride by myself and not cry. haha she's hilarious.

Thankfully we got to ride the train around. It's always a kid pleaser.

Two of my favorite people in the world were here- Jacque and Steph. Steph is always invited to Airhart events, and I was so happily surprised to run into Jacque. It made a great day epic!

Conference Weekend

This is how general conference weekend started for us. We caught President Monson's talk while getting Cambry ready for soccer. Took Cambry to her game, then caught President Uchtdorf's talk on the car ride home. I also love that this capture Myla patting Cambry's face. She does that frequently to anyone that allows her to touch their face.

On Sunday, we listened to the morning session on the car ride up to Logan to visit my sister. This was our first time visiting them in Logan. So, in between session, they showed us around their neighborhood. Across the stream in their backyard is a city park and duck pond. So, we waddled over to feed some ducks.

After conference, Noelle and Cory served up a delicious dinner.

Afterwards, we roasted some mallows and made s'mores. We introduced my traditional family to non-traditional varieties of s'mores using kit-kats and Reeses.

One Last Bro Night

Devin here y'all. The weekend before my little bro, Derek, left on his mission. Neal, Derek and I got together for one last Bro night. The Beck gave me some free ticket to Comic-Con. So, we decide that we'd check it out. It did not disappoint. So many great costumes and display. Behind us in the pic below is bleachers set up for a regional amateur wrestling (like WWE wrestling) match. It was comical.

So apparently, I was into making creepy faces that night. (Spoiler Alert: more creepy faces to come)

Derek was in heaven. He loves dragons, especially Smaug.

Evermore, a new theme park in Pleasant Grove, had display at Comic-Con. We had long debate about whether this creepy monster was a costume or robot. It was that good. It creeped me out so much that I couldn't turn to look at the camera. Hence, another creepy face.

It was great fun and a perfect way to send Derek off on his mission. Miss you, Bro!
