We had a great time with family photos with a million little kids to try to get everyone looking and smiling in the same direction. that's always a great adventure. It was a gorgeous day at Murray park. Here are a few Devin snapped. This one is all the grand kids with Grandma and Grandpa.

Fall Break: This is the Place Park

On Friday, I took Cambry and Vienna up to This is the Place Park for the "Little Spooks" activity. You could tell that this dad was flying solo. I get out of the car and all the other kids were in costumes. Cue Cambry asking: "Daddy where are our costumes?" I even forgot trick-or-treating bags. Sorry girls, your dad is a rookie. But having a rookie Dad didn't keep Cambry and Vienna from having a good time trick-or-treating.

This was the first and almost the only thing the girls wanted to do--ride the train.

They did sit and listen to the witch tell stories for a while until the Candy Cannon was announced to be blasting soon.

When the cannon went off, it made a loud boom, taffy rained down on us and kids were scrambling everywhere. Both girls were quite distraught. Should have seen that coming. Oh, I know, lets go get shot by flaming melted taffy. Doesn't that sound like fun, kids?

We went into the candy shop to recuperate and warm up. It turned out to be a perfect place for the girls to recover. It had two little kitchens and two little shopping carts. The girls quickly forgot about their trauma and got to work.

Trick-or-treating at the schoolhouse

This was my favorite part: seeing the girls ride horses for the first time. So, please forgive the picture/information overload. Vienna was so excited waiting in line and couldn't hold still. Cambry wanted nothing to do with it. So I told her to just wait by the fence while I help Vienna ride a horse. Vienna became much more somber when we approach the horse, but still let me put her on the horse. 

Meanwhile, one of staff saw Cambry by fence and planted her on a horse. Perfect, probably the only way Cambry would have gotten on a horse. Look, how nervous she is.

It took both of the girls a while to warm up to it.

By the end, they were both enjoying it.

I was so proud of how brave both of them were.

Next, we went to pet the goats and other animals. V doing her best goat face.

There was no fence between us a the animals. This made girls too nervous to approach any of the animals

They had a fun little playground with a bunch of little houses. The girls took a liking to the firehouse and took it over.

After that the girls were exhausted. So, we trick-or-treated at one more house and caught a ride on the train to the front.

Fall Break: Downtown SLC

After the Museum, we walked across temple square to city creek mall.

Isn't temple square beautiful this time of year??

Isn't a sleeping baby on your chest so dreamy?? I'll submit YES.

Vienna always needing to investigate everything that interests her... which is everything. It keeps life exciting.

Cambry was being so cute just hoping her way across temple square. She was in her own world and cut off about 5 people. Classic Cambry. (Note: her cute leggins are so loose on her. We have to get the 4T because she's so tall for her age, but so lean.) 

Lunch at City Creek is always a good time.

Plenty of boulders to climb on and plants to walk around. City Creek really is fantastic. V just discovered the fish in the little stream. "Hey! FSH!" (no vowels in fish). Devin caught this mid- "hey." she really is so expressive in her face- it's always a good time watching her nonverbal communication skills over power her verbal ones 95% of the time.

Fall Break: Church History Museum

Devin had a few days off of school and work, so when our original plans to leave town fell through, we decided on a staycation. We started off by riding TRAX downtown, which because our girls love the train and are fascinated with it. Its a success when even the transportation is a good time. It is so rewarding when mundane things become an adventure with these girls.

After 3 minutes, we were really grateful this child is in a car seat in the car, because she was EVERY WHERE!! She was so excited to see everything, she just couldn't contain herself.

We visited the Church History Museum for the first time... that's embarrassing since we spent most of our lives in Utah. Veena wanted to get in the covered wagon.

These little pioneers actually did pull this hand cart laden with goods a few feet, much to our surprise. I love V's face- sheer exertion.

The Children's area was so much fun! We might spend all winter here.

It was a blast joining the fiesta to do a little dancing.

V was the interior designer and brought in little seats for them to sit in.

Living the farm life-harvesting the produce in the garden,

And collecting the eggs from the chicken coop

They made us a nice organic lunch from all their loot.

Halloween Carnival

In the middle of October, we went to a Halloween carnival in Murray. When I say we, I mean just me (Devin), Cambry and Vienna. Now that may not seem like a big deal to some parents, but I'm still learning to look in a different direction with each eyeball  to keep track of my kids. Add to that that I get anxiety in large crowds and I'm pretty impressed that I did not lose any of my children and didn't go into complete panic mode.

There were tons of games, but didn't get very many pictures because I usually needed to help the girls. One of the games was search for candy in this nasty pile of germ-infested paper... okay, so it wasn't that gross, but I made sure to sanitize their hands afterwards. 


This is another activity that required a little less from me. So, I got some pictures. It took them some time find out that there was candy under the balloons. Here's Cambry discovering the candy. 

Vienna never really found any candy, but thought it was great to have so many balloons to play with.

After we had played a lot of the games, I had to get away from all the people. So, I took the girls out to play on playground.

There was a skate park right by the playground and Vienna was fascinated. She wouldn't play on the playground until she got her fill of watching all the bikers and skaters.
