Trip to Atlanta

On the weekend between Christmas and New Years, we took a trip down to Atlanta to visit my Uncle Kent and his family. We stopped by the Zoo on our way out and it was cold (like lower 50s).

Vienna showing us the cougar - too bad her pudgy pointer finger is swallowed up in a mitten.

Sailing away to warmer shores.

Cambry loved this little stump seat and was so cute in it.

The Otters put on a good show and made our trip to the Zoo.

The girls were loving it.

We made it to Kent's house and Aunt Ann had a warm dinner all ready for us. It was perfect. We put our girls down, chatted and played games the rest of the night.

Our girls loved staying at their house. Here are some of their favorite things:

the dog, Milkshake (much to Milkshake's dismay),

the piano,

and the giant lovesac.

Kent and Ann took us to the fish hatchery by their house to feed some trout.

It was crazy. The fish would start jumping when you'd just put your hand out above the water.

Kent had the idea to let the fish eat the food out of his hand and convinced his wife to do the same.

After the fish hatchery, we went to lunch at Five Guys to visit Allison at her work. It was delicious.

Vienna drank ketchup for lunch. Cambry followed suit, but we didn't get a pic.

The girls finished eating/drinking before us and got busy. V ran around the place and climbed in and out of chairs with no pants because of a blowout. C was in project mode making sure that cone was in the right place. Five Guys was a better place after we left.

The whole Wrathall crew.

While we were there, I got to skype with my sister, Sara, who is serving a mission in the Philippines. She wasn't able to connect with the family on Christmas, so we got to do it on New Year's Eve (in the Philippines). Allison and Kent listened in.

It was so great to reconnect and get to know Kent, Ann and their family better. It had been a decade since I last met with the family (aside from a brief visit from Kent last year) and Joslyn had never met the family. The were such good host and were good sports about out sick kids.

On the way back, we stopped at Ikea to eat and shop a little. We LOVE this place and wish it was closer.

Cambry found a little kitchen to play with.

Our kids were so exhausted  They couldn't help themselves when they saw the little toddler beds and crawled up in them and laid down.

I was so impressed with how well our girls handled the six-hour drive (one-way) to and from Atlanta. It was a good trip, company and change of scenery.

  4. Glad you had fun with Kent's family. Too bad the kids had to get sick, that's the way it goes lots of times. Looks like Kent got some practice at the Grandpa thing with your girls. He'll be ready for Carter when they visit.
