Baby Cambry is here!

A few nights before Cambry was born, I was teaching Devin how to swaddle a baby using a stuffed animal. The next morning, I woke up to this. Classic!
I went to my OB appointment Friday morning May 14, and he said "You are dilated to a 5. You are in active labor." I looked at him surprised and said "Oh! I thought it would hurt at least a little bit!" Little did I know what was to come!
This was from a shower Cristy and Jessica threw for me in Salt Lake. It was so fun to see people I love and spend the afternoon celebrating the upcoming birth of Cambry. I got advice from current mothers ranging from "Don't trust anything the nurses tell you at the hospital- they have no idea what they're talking about" to "Go see a doctor immediately if you ever have thoughts of drowning your child." Good times.

Cambry Rappleye came May 14 at 8:43 pm after a pretty quick labor. She was 19 1/2 inches long, 6 pounds 11 ounces.

People told us to prepare ourselves for that first time we hold our baby as a new parent. There aren't any words to describe that overwhelming feeling of love we felt.

she was a sucker for the binky her second day. The nurse took her to poke her with a needle and brought her back with that in her mouth. The lactation specialist had just been into my room saying, "Never EVER, for ANY reason give your baby a pacifier!" I took one look at my baby girl sucking away so contently and decided to take some of the advice from the baby shower.

Thankfully, one more person avoided the curse of cube feet, that has been plaguing Airharts for generations, probably tracing all the way back to Fred Flinstone himself.

Miniature babies have to do something big. This girl can yawn! She hasn't found her big voice yet, which Devin and I are especially grateful for at night.

Ok, One thing I've noticed is every time people come over to our house to meet Cambry, the men that don't have kids are always so stiff and awkward. A lot of them don't even want to chance "breaking" something so small. If they do hold her, it's because the wife makes them do it. A few days after we brought Cambry home, Devin said, "Babies aren't as scary and boring as I thought."

It's a GIRL!!!

We are so excited to be having our first baby and that it is a girl. We feel that this baby is the best gift that we could get for Christmas. So, we went to the doctor a week before Christmas and asked him to put the results in an envelope and then we would open it on Christmas morning. We were so excited to open the envelope so we slept by the tree!

Joslyn woke me up at about 5:30 a.m. and asked if I had been having dreams about the envelope, to which I answered 'yes.' She said, "I can't take it anymore!" So we opened it.

FLASHBACK: We announced our prenancy on Halloween in this fashion....

Christmas Tree

This year, we went for a Christmas tree hunt. We drove down to Fish Lake and hiked around in the mountains for the perfect Christmas tree to take home. We followed a trail of good-looking trees up the mountain until we found this 9-foot beauty!

BYU Football

This year and last year, we have been fortunate enough to own season tickets to the BYU football games. Last year, we had mono, but it was still fun. However, this year, it was much more enjoyable. We had to include some pictures from the best game of the year, the Utah-BYU game. It was nail-biter. This game alone would have made our season tickets worth it!

Of course, the fact that BYU won the game made it so enjoyable.

The crowd rushed the field after Andrew George made the game winning, catch, run and TOUCHDOWN!!! We were so high up. It took us a while to get down there, but we made it!

Devin was so drunk with excitiment and delight that he got to go mingle with the players after the game on the field!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Last year, we didn't even think about making a Christmas card. This year, we took a picture but didn't make a Christmas card. Maybe next year, we'll get over the hump and make the Christmas card. Anyhow, we just wanted to wish all our friends and family a Merry Christmas and at least you can see our picture that we took (see above). We love you and wish you the happiest new year!

Farwell to Summer

Hey, It's me, Devin. Summer is official over and my nose is back in the books all day, again. I decided I wanted to do one last hurrah for summer. So, My Cousin Shane and I climbed Mt. Nebo. It's the tallest mountian on the wasatch front, standing at 11,928 ft. The hike was short (5 miles one-way), but steep. The picture above is the second to last ascent and the one below is the final ascent. During the final ascent, the trail disappeared and we had to scramble up boulders.
We did it! Check out the beautiful view. There was a cool hiker's log at the top that everybody wrote in. The best entry went something like this: "I rode a cattle bare back all the way to the top. Then I chucked it off the ridge and ate beef jerky."

Joslyn went the huge '912 Project' rally in South Jordan. It was part of large rallies around the nation. In D.C., they had almost 80,000 gathered. The rally largely focused on unifying together to remove the corruption from the government. If you want a real report on it, you'll have to talk to Joslyn. She's become quite politically active lately.

Motley Summer

We've been really bad at blogging the past few months and here is a motley of pictures giving a brief summary of the past couple of months. We're working hard and playing hard.
We moved to South Provo to try to escape the mainstream BYU Provo. We love our new neighborhood and our new place is growing on us. We've spent a lot of time fixing up the interior and we've had a lot of yard work to do. Devin has turned our yard from an "F" to at least a C+. Here he is killing the hornets. He was only stung once.

Here is our dreamy 1 year anniversary (above) We had family reunions all week and were so happy to be home after being sandy, sunburned and around huge crowds.

Devin got 2nd place in the Long jump contest at the Rappleye Family Reunion. These guys were jumping at least 25 feet (wink wink). It was really impressive to be honest.

4th of July balloon festival in Provo. I was such a little kid here because I've never been to one and it was so awesome to see them take off like that.

Lake Powell is still the dream trip of each summer... Ever since I was little it's been the hot spot in the Airhart Fam
Battle of the Sexes and i guess the Beck's team wins cause she always had the biggest hair.

We've been camping several times this summer at several different places. However, we only participated in the Olympic games one time... as demonstrated on the movies.
