We moved! After enduring a few a lot of our neighbor's fiestas and late-night parties, our lease finally ran out and we left at our first chance. We started looking for places to live when we got back from our trip to Utah. We drove by this house one night to check it out and were immediately enchanted. We just felt that this was where we were suppose to live. If it weren't for that spiritual confirmation, we wouldn't have made through the next few weeks. When we showed up for a viewing of the house, the agent didn't even show up. We were greeted by a painter. The floors were covered in plastic with the crumbled remains of the ceiling. Yet, we still felt good about it. When we finally meet the agent for the house, he seemed apathetic and indolent. The house was also a little outside of our price range. We contemplated many time about backing out, but we finally signed the lease and started getting ready to move.
We lived in a cardboard castle for about a week before we moved (Joslyn mentioned that to the missionaries and one of them thought that we were homeless).
The ward really came through- 16 men to move, 6 women to help clean both new and old places, and a family to watch our girls. The move was just a giant flash boxes and middle-aged men. It took just under 1 and 1/2 hours to move everything from our apartment to our house.Well, almost everything...
We had to take apart our stacked washer and dryer to get it out our bathroom (remember this fiasco - scroll to the middle of the post). This guy, John Pearson, is a true friend. I asked him if he had an hour to help me take apart the washer and dryer. Well, it took us three - much better than the six it took me on my first go around. Thanks, John!
Here is half of our front room.
Here is the other half.
Dining room (viewed from the front room). It is so open and spacious here.
Our wooden kitchen. We caught out first mouse in here.
The bedrooms and other parts of the house aren't quite together yet, but they are in the video. We are so glad that we made this move. Now that we have most of the house situated, this place is starting to feel like a real home. Joslyn said that for the first time since 18, she feels at home.
