Memorial Day Weekend

Saturday evening, we went over to my good friend's, Steph's, house for a BBQ. It was a perfect evening. It is always a great night with Steph and Braden

On Sunday Evening, we went to Grandpa Rappleye's grave with the some of the extended Rappleye Family. The girls had fun playing in the spooky forests (oak thickets) while we all reminisced about Grandpa and sang hymns.

Of course, there was lots of singing. Derek pretended to sing along while he played on his Game Boy.

Myla was all smiles despite being sleep deprived, such a good baby!

One experience that Devin shared was from his Grandpa's last reunion with us. He said, "While we were all gathered around the fire at Island Park, he spoke rather emphatically to "get as much education as you can." Whenever I have gotten tired of being a student and begin to contemplate skipping out early, I remember those words and they give me strength to keep going. I'm sure grateful for the legacy that my Grandpa has left behind. My sweet Grandma sure loves him and misses him."

Monday we joined Devin's mom, dad and Derek for the traditional bike ride up Provo Canyon. We only rode from Bridal Veil to Vivian Park.

We decided to bring along Cambry's little bike and see how far she could go. She pedaled her heart out (riding in a dress of course).

She almost made it to our destination, just over a mile, and had very rosy checks when she decided to call it good.

Vienna took over at that point and made it the rest of the way to the park.

We had a little Picnic when we got to Vivian Park.

Grandpa, the pro at wading in the Provo river according to his stories, showed the girls the ropes wading in the south fork of the Provo river.

The girls loved wading in the creek despite its freezing temperatures. It was total wake up a call to me when Cambry and Vienna waded and climbed in and out of the creek all by themselves. When did they get that old!

What a dream!

All the while, Derek loafed in this tree.

It was so fun to share this tradition Devin has done since he was a kid with our kids.

The girls were pretty exhausted from the ride up. So Cambry and Myla rode in the trailer.

While Vienna perched herself in the back seat of Devin's bike. Thanks Jamey for letting us borrow it.

That evening, Vienna and I went to visit Grandpa Fuddy's grave. We love and miss him. We are so blessed to have so many great examples that went before us that sacrificed so much protecting our freedoms and building a strong spiritual foundation for our families
