Wrapping up only child-ism

The past few weeks it's finally hit me that we're going to be a family of 4 very soon.  Although I've been preparing for Vienna to come, I have been cherishing the time I have with just Cambry.  When I'm too tired to want to do anything but pass out, I find a reserve from somewhere and make sure Cambry gets to be my baby for a little bit longer.

Right now she's fascinated with running water.  While I made dinner, she was totally into taking several drinks from her lego, and completely drenched herself.

I left Cambry to play with a friend for my Dr. appointment.  When I picked her up, she was wearing her friend's clothes...all boy clothes. First blow out in months, little stinker.

The other morning it was a chilly 68 degrees when we left the house.  I brought her a blanket, which worked great while she was in the stroller, but as soon as she was out walking, she kept tripping over it.  Which is why we came up with a cape for Super Cambry.

The next morning we tried a sweater, shoes, and socks.  She kept looking down at her arms and touching her feet like they were foreign entities.  It warmed up later and I took her sweater off, and she was so SAD!!  I mean big dime sized tears rolling down her cheeks.  So she wore a sweater in 88 degree weather.  Worse things have happened.

This was so funny watching this toddler in a pink frilly outfit stare at this steam roller doing it's thing.

Naturally the foilage and stairs were more fun to play with than the playground equipment.

Little friendly game of peek-a-boo

I've been saying for a few months that Cambry's personality around strangers is cat-like: ignore her and she'll like you, give her attention and she'll run away.  We had a run in with a cat and it was hilarious to watch.  First they circled each other for about 3 minutes.

Next they took turns getting within inches of each other, then retreating.

Finally after about 10 minutes, they were brave enough to touch.  I had to hold back my initial instinct to kick the cat for touching my baby.  Yuck- get your tail out of her face!!

After a few more minutes of touch and retreat, they decided to be friends.

  1. hahaha I loved the cat and Cambers meet n' greet story. I'm glad you mentioned your urge to kick that cat away from C, that was my urge too, classic.

  2. Cambry is a cat!! No kicking!
I remember being pregnant with Jake and feeling sorry for this new baby as I watched Jarom because I couldn't imagine being able to love another child as much as I loved my first. But then you get a first glimpse and your heart expands with enough love to encircle both. I'm excited to see you next week.

  4. Cambers has gotten so big since May. I feel like she grew up just in time to be in charge of her sister! So crazy. I admire your ability to be such a wonderful mom and wife.
