Pioneer Day

On our summer bucket list we still had "go to a parade" written down. Although we went to the preview, I didn't feel we could cross it off, so i halfheartedly got us ready. Since I was already out of steam before we left the house, I asked the kids if they'd rather go to their favorite park or go to the parade. They chose the park, which we were all thankful. (Our family bucket list was made before my morning sickness set in. I'm quite surprised of how many things we still did!).

Devin had to work for 2 hours up on campus, and the girls and I had a great time exploring the President's circle grounds. We collected a leaf from every single tree. It's a collection of trees from all around the world. I'm surprised how excited the C and V were to collect, compare, and categorize all the leaves. I was less surprised how excited Myla was to run circles around all of us in nature.

That evening we did desserts and fireworks with the neighbors. Myla was so happy there was so much sugar within her reach!

The kids were attentive and charmed by the first couple fireworks (which were clearly lit by around 7pm... where it was almost dark...) then they slowly trickled to the back yard to play. At one point the adults looked around and noticed no kid was even in the front yard as the Devin and Jamey kept a steady show of 5 foot tall sparks coming. Ha!

Our first year where we're brave enough for sparklers. Progress!

We love celebrating just how the pioneers did!!!

  1. I love the picture of Myla at the dessert table! She looks so grown up! I also love the one of Vienna at the float preview in the next post by the BYU float. She looks so pleased. All your girls are getting so big and beautiful!
